The Religious Principles of Financial Prosperity

Rev. G. K. Nwatu
TEXT: Hag 1:1-11, ; 2:15-19 Religious principles are principles that are connected to one’s religion. They are binding only on the adherents of such religion because they have released their faith and fate to it. Every religion has its own
principle. One who leaves his own religion
for another as a way of boycotting principles, will rather be greeted with the principles of his new religion upon his arrival. There are some basic principles that are peculiar to the children of God; that is, those of us in Christian religion. These principles must be carefully and faithfully observed if we must become prosperous in life. These include, but not limited to the followings
1.THE PRINCIPLE OF “GOD-FIRST”. This is the principle of putting God and the business of His kingdom first and above every other thing in one’s life—Matt 6:33

2.THE PRINCIPLE OF TITHING—Mal. 3:10-12; God’s portion must be removed and dedicated to Him first before considering our own needs, however crushing they may be.

3.THE PRINCIPLE OF FIRST FRUIT—First Fruit is one of the keys to the overflow of abundance. It can attract God’s blessings upon the sources of income–Prov. 3:9, 10

4.THE PRINCIPLE OF IMPLICIT AND EXPLICIT—A man cannot be in fragrant disobedience to God’s instructions and expect the same God to bless him. Obedience to God’s instructions is one of the secrets of successes—Josh 1:8.
a. Diligent obedience to God’s instructions can make God set a man on high—Deut. 28:1-2;
b. Diligent obedience to God’s instructions qualifies a man to enjoy all the blessings of God; and even be overtaken by them—Deut. 28:2;
c. Obedience to God’s instruction makes a man eat out of the fat of the land, otherwise not. Isa 1:19-20;
It is nothing for God to bless a man financially. For this to happen however, His principles must be respected and faithfully followed.

KEY POINT:
a. We cannot put God first in our lives and remain behind in life!

b. “Those who run after God, things run after them. Those who run after things [at the expense of their relationship with God], things run away from them”! - Pst. Dr. Paul Enenche
