Text: 2 Peter 1:3-4; 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (KJV)
In Greek Grammar, there is what is known as “Instrumental Case”. An ‘instrumental’ is “a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act”. If an action is going on in a sentence and suddenly you discover an
‘instrumental’; the instrumental tells you what makes that action possible. It shows the instrument, tool, agent, source or means by which something is done or achieved, and it is translated as (by, by the means of, or through). So, whenever you like an action, a promise or statement in the Bible and you are shown the means by which such action was or could be achieved (instrumental), the wisest thing to do is to follow that means and you will get the same result.
Now, in our text (2 Peter 1:3-4), the only way we can make the best out of all that His divine power has give to us is “through Knowledge” 2 Peter 1:3-4; 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. (KJV)
1.We need to know and relate with God in personal relationship and experience if we must enjoy all that His divine power has given to us. We cannot live as strangers to God and expect Him to respond to us as a man would respond to his beloved biological sons or daughters.
2.We need to know about the nature, ability and desire of God in any area we need him. The knowledge you have about a given aspect of God’s nature will determine what you will get from God in that aspect. To believe that God can bless you financially, you need to know about His ability and desire to bless you financially, and allow such knowledge to impact and control your life.
Thus, we can make the best out of all that His divine power has made available to us through what we know about Him.

Key Point: A man who does not know what God can do, will not believe God in that area, and consequently will not enjoy God in that area.
