God Has Endowed You With Every Thing You Need to Excel in Life

TEXT: 2 PETER 1:3-4; 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (KJV)
Many scholars believe that the context in which Peter wrote when he said that “his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness” was only in relation to religious life. Others however (of course, including the preacher) believe that it also includes all “that are necessary for godliness and also for this present life”.
In relation to life of godliness, the passage shows that we can live for God if we want, because, He has given to us all that we need to succeed in our walk with Him. In relation to this life also, He has given unto us all things that are necessary for life. These may include: good marriage, good job, good dresses, children, raising the children, choice accommodation, cars, houses, academic successes, career successes, financial favor (money), etc.

Sometimes, these things may seem very high a height to attain. It is however interesting to note that it is His divine power that has given us all these! This power is something beyond human or even demons. It is this same power that made everything from nothing. The same power has made available for us everything we need to excel.

In addition to this, He has called us to life of glory and virtue. Glory” is the direct antonym of shame, reproach, disgrace or humiliation. I have no business with anything that makes for shame, reproach, disgrace or humiliation because that is not where I am called into. I am rather called into glory and virtue—dignity, honor, praise and excellence.

We are also called to partake in His divine nature. 2 Peter 1:4; “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”. (KJV) His divine nature is a “sinless”, “sick-less” and “failure-less” nature and this is the nature we are called to share with Him. My success is life and in godliness is therefore not negotiable, seeing that His Divine Power has given unto me all things that pertain to life and godliness.

KEY POINT:
In relation to sin, sickness and poverty, what He offers unto us is Righteousness, Health, and Wealth; forgiveness, healing and breakthrough are rather reserved in case we run short of the understanding the main (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet. 2:24; 2 Cor. 8:9)
